REFERENCE: https://mlp.fandom.com/wiki/Rarity#Depiction_in_the_seriesPERSONALITY: Of the elements of harmony, Rarity represents generosity. If somepony needs her help, or needs something from her, she’ll give it
almost without a second thought. Giving, in most cases, is just as fulfilling as getting after all. She’s shown to be kind and loyal to both her friends and family, and she’s willing to go outside her own comfort zone if they need her to
this requires a bit of coaxing though. When danger arises, Rarity will… be there… Well, maybe she won’t be the first, but she won’t be the last either? Stress and fearful screaming isn’t exactly good for one’s complexion.
Beauty is in the eye of beholder, and Rarity tries to be seen as beautiful to as many beholders as possible. She’s a fashion-conscience lady who approaches all of life’s trials and tribulations with a sense of grace and dignity. The whole world is watching all the time, so one must look her best even while doing the most menial of chores. Rarity longs to be recognized by high society, where she thinks she rightfully belongs, and pounces on every opportunity to get just a little bit closer to the glamour and beauty of it all. Don’t let this pretty face fool you, Rarity is about as ambitious and cunning as they come when it comes to her business. She’s a hard, dedicated worker, and will do whatever it takes to get where she wants to go. At the same time, her love for her friends will always come before her own desires.
As a dressmaker, Rarity pours her heart and soul into creating beautiful things, often with great success. Unsurprisingly, Rarity is very fashion-conscience, as clothes and appearance are important to her. Her attention to detail and her eye for the perfect colour combinations and patterns makes Rarity almost famous for her designs. Rarity is also shown to have a decent judge of character, as she’s able to make dresses that perfectly match the personality of her clients.
Alas, there is no such thing as a perfect pony, though Rarity likes to think she comes pretty close. Her dedication to beauty often leads her to being vain and shallow, and she tends to react less favourably to ugly or dirty things. There are times when she’ll prioritize beauty and hygiene over pretty much everything else. A notable flaw is that Rarity will often obsess over little details, rather than look at the big picture. She tends to prefer the prettier and more convenient solution to a problem over the practical one, something that’s landed her in trouble more than once.
While Rarity likes being as proper as possible, this tends to come off as snobbish and fussy to most ponies. She wants the world around her to be as civilized and cultured as she is, but understandably this isn’t really possible. Doesn’t mean she won’t try though. Oh, did you want drama? Well good, because Rarity is an extremely overly dramatic little pony, you’d be really hard-pressed to find a bigger spotlignt hog. Why cry when you can woefully sob in the bitter rain? If you must do something, then you should definitely do it as fabulously as possible. Hilariously enough, Rarity is overdramatic even when she’s alone and no one’s watching.
ABILITIES: As a Unicorn, Rarity has a natural affinity for magic. No big spells for her though, she mostly uses her magic for very precise things like wielding a needle and thread through delicate fabrics. As a young filly she learned that she has a natural talent for finding valuable gems, a skill she uses often for her many fabulous dresses.
PERSONAL EFFECTS: A collection of sewing things and fabric
PRIZED POSSESSION: A picture of her friends and family
SAMPLE:Rarity loved what she did. Some would say that it was the journey that matters and not the destination, but Rarity took great pride in the outcome of her hard work. Everything had to be perfect, for anything less would be an insult to her customers and her skill as a dressmaker. Her customers trusted her to choose the right stitch, the right colour, the right pattern for everything, and she took that trust seriously. She would give them something that would make even the dullest pony shine!
Oh gosh, did she really think that those colours would go together? What was she thinking! Well, it looked like she was going to have to start over… unless she could find a way to scavenge it. Now that she was looking at it, she realized that the yellow bow was far too tacky and the frills were soooo last week. Goodness, was she losing her touch already? She was hoping she’d have another couple decades left before she went senile.
The dress-in-making is unceremoniously torn off the mannequin and tossed aside. She leaves it where it lies as a reminder to herself to not get sloppy. Imagine what would have happened if she had given it to her client! Chaos! Disaster! A poor reputation! Just the very thought of it made her want to faint! Well not in here of course, Rarity didn’t want to disturb her organized chaos, and fainting was pointless if there’s no one around to catch you. Well, back to the drawing board! Luckily for her, her client had given her ample time to get the dress together, but she couldn’t afford another horrendous mess up like this one. Maybe she should try red and blue this time? Oh no, that was far too bold for the occasion...
“What do you think, Opal?” She asks her cat, a beautiful white Persian of cantankerous nature. Opal responded by yawning and turning away from her.
“Yes, I see. Perhaps I should go with a different stitching to get the desire effect?” She mutters to herself and she yanks her dress blueprint off the wall and slapping it back on her drawing board. Her pencil hovers over the drawing for a second before descending on it with frantic scribbling.
“Pastels perhaps? No, they fell out of style months ago...” Though Rarity does have the power to bring pastels back into fashion. But no! She must use her powers for good!
Althouuuugh... the pony in question is a very dark navy blue... and pastels would be such a lovely contrast...
“My client did say that she trusted my judgment.” She says out loud, remembering that the pony had been wearing lovely opals and shoes that were both pale green. Perhaps she’s actually onto something here!
She hasn’t disappointed a client so far (in a way she couldn’t fix), and she doesn’t intend to start now! Time to be bold and do the best she can!
